Citizens of Absalom!

You couldn't resist staying a few extra hours at Fort Tempest. The soldiers from the Starwatch and First Guard greatly enjoyed hearing your tales of adventure. It also didn't hurt that they had just been paid and were very, very bad at cards. With fresh coins in your purse, you figure you'll make it up to Westgate tomorrow to see a shopkeeper about a badger.

You're all heroes! (Well, some of you maybe be scoundrels, but you're heroic scoundrels.) Our Kickstarter campaign ended beyond our expectations at 280% funded and 340 backers.

We'll count additional funds in the pledge manager (except postage) towards the final 300% funded stretch goal, the limited edition gold coin for the Noble House of Absalom coin set. It ain't over 'til the Blond Badger sings.

What happens next

Kickstarter will transfer the funds to us in 2 weeks time. If you have had any trouble with your card being charged, please check any messages from Kickstarter. As we are an Australian company, it often happens that American banks don't automatically approve foreign charges. The Vault of Abadar is far more capricious.

Once we have the funds and the data, we'll open up the pledge manager, where you will be able to confirm your selections and add ons, and pay the postage. We'll send an update when that happens.

Thanks of Absalom

Thank you. Yes, you. Getting a little company like ours through the last few years has been a huge challenge, so your support like this means the world to us.

Paizo have been fantastic friends and partners for years. They've gone above and beyond in this campaign, giving us the starting inspiration and then letting us run with it. The marketing crew have been absolute stalwarts on every day of the campaign, wearing out that retweet button. In addition, it was lovely to see some very familiar names appear in our backer list, so the team have supported us in more ways than one. Legends, all of them.

Beadle & Grimm got us into the streets of Absalom to make the first coins in this series for their Gold Edition of Absalom City of Lost Omens. Don't forget they are the only place you can get the exclusive Grand Council Hall gold coin. Be sure to also check out the Pathfinder Society Medal we made for them, it's an absolute beauty.

Band of Badgers previewed the coins with huge enthusiasm, which was awesome. Dave & Steve & the whole crew are wonderful players and hobbyists, so be sure to follow and subscribe on YouTube, Twitch or Patreon.

Hijinks are a local Pathfinder 2e actual play crew who we adored after seeing their delightful Leshy adventure for PaizoCon 2021. They were intrigued by the idea of a heist adventure, and voila, The Absalom Job happened. We can't believe how cool it is. Please join us in thanking them by subscribing via YouTube or Patreon.

Brian Patterson our artist is a truly splendid fellow who combines huge talent with a deep love of RPGs. Follow his new Innsmouth Garden Society webcomic at D20Monkey or Patreon.

Okay, we need to sleep, then we need to work. See you in two weeks. But, before we go: we're about to start our Black Friday to Cyber Monday sale on our website, 15% off everything including our full Pathfinder Hero Point range. Join our mailing list for news of when it starts, or just check the site tomorrow.

Best,

Mark, with Andre, Jackson & Maddison

Final minutes showdown: Badger vs sundial
over 1 year ago – Wed, Nov 23, 2022 at 04:51:03 PM

Citizens of Absalom!

Fort Tempest stands solid and just above the waterline, protecting the western reaches of Absalom. You can see from the fishing poles out of the lower windows that the guards also enjoy a spot of fishing. You receive a surprisingly warm welcome; Pathfinders helped save the fort and the city three years ago, and they have not forgotten.

The project is now 275% funded, which means that you have unlocked the Artist Bonus for Brian Patterson who designed all the coins and the compass. We'll send him AU $500 tonight.

Thanks, everyone! When I told Brian we were doing this, he wrote back and said:

"Artist/writer/editor bonuses for stretch goals just make me so very happy. This is a very kind gesture and I appreciate it so much." - Brian Patterson, @D20monkey

What Brian did next

You'll be seeing new work from Brian from us early next year. He recently finished a fantastic series of Concentration Tokens. We have made Arcane, Divine and Nature, and they look amazing.

Arcane, Divine & Nature Concentration Tokens

But, we only did three sources of magic, and that made Urbandragon sad:

@UrbanDragonDice wrote "@CampaignCoins I love your concentration coins, but as a #pathfinder2e player the lack of occult saddens me. @paizo gaves us 4 sources of magic."

So, Brian is waiting on the artist brief, impatiently. He just emailed:  "BRING ME THE OCCULT TOKEN"

Watch this space, and the portents. (In related news, Dark Archive is amazing. Thaumaturge is now my favourite class in any D20 game. Tooled up ghost hunter? Hand me my shovel, let's dig that thing up.)

The final stretch goal

Left: sundial illustration. Right: the blond badger coin. The position of the claw makes it look like the badger is attacking it.
(Sundial art from The Inner Sea World Guide, Paizo Inc)

The shadow grows long across sundial. Mere minutes remain, and we have to get all the way across the soggy expanse of The Puddles to make it to Westgate. Will we uncage the Blond Badger?

If the project hits 300% funded we will add this Kickstarter exclusive limited edition variant of the 1-Silver mold to each Noble House of Absalom coin set. It may be a goal too far, but as they say in Absalom, never bet against the badger.

Mark, with Andre, Jackson & Maddison

Final hours: another stretch goal!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Nov 22, 2022 at 02:23:18 PM

Citizens of Absalom!

You cross the harbour to The Puddles, passing the Barque Bazaar, a unique seaborne marketplace. As to when exactly you reach land is not entirely clear, as the streets are sunken, flooded. Despite the encroaching damp the locals cling to their own piece of Absalom. There are newcomers here too; you pass a goblin theatre, where The High Deeds of King Zusgut is playing. It figures. Goblins have always been a bit dramatic.

The project is now 250% funded (wow!) so you have unlocked a bonus 5-Platinum coin in each Noble House of Absalom coin set.

Noble House of Absalom coin set: 1 PP x12+1, 5 PP x 3+1, 5000 GP x6, 10000 GP x3
Total in-game value: 60,330 gp (or: 60,000 gp 33 pp)

Final hours

Our journey now heads down to Fort Tempest. If the project hits 275% funded we will pay an artist bonus to Brian Patterson, who worked so many hours to perfect all of these designs.

Here's a behind the scenes of his meticulous process to define all of the shapes and sizes. This chart validated the way that the coin shapes always look different at each step, and slowly scale up.

Pathfinder coin size comparison

Two goals to go! Maybe we'll get to visit The Fierce Stripe in Westgate, and pick up a Blond Badger.

Final day! Stretch goal unlocked at the precipe
over 1 year ago – Tue, Nov 22, 2022 at 02:57:34 AM

All coin sets on map of Absalom

Citizens of Absalom!

The Precipe Quarter is the absolute brink of new and old Absalom. The original district is scarred by the catastrophe that collapsed the cliff face and sent it tumbling into the sea, the old fun fairs and grand mansions in disuse. From the bones rises the shining new Radiant Festival fairground, and already people throng the streets, obivious or simply ignoring the fact that a few blocks back, buried things crawl towards the light. Never a dull day in Absalom.

Welcome new backers! It's the last day, and we've hit 225% funded and unlocked a bonus 1-Platinum coin in the Noble House of Absalom coin set. Like all bonus coins, this will only be included in the Kickstarter edition of this set.

Noble House of Absalom coin set: 1 PP x12+1, 5 PP x 3, 5000 GP x6, 10000 GP x3
Total in-game value: 60,280 gp (or: 60,000 gp 28 pp)

What a journey!

Thanks so much for joining us so far on our walk around Absalom. I've absolutely loved learning more about this incredible fantasy city, both at my gaming table and writing about it for you. It's very cool to see we have almost unlocked our whole map! Let's look back at what we found along the way.

Our base coin set is Markets of Absalom (201 gp), which is everything you need to give adventurers their starting gold and get playing.  The Inns of Absalom coin set (1 gp 28 sp 28 cp) allows you to add copper and gold to your economy, and the Trademaster of Absalom coin set (21,000 gp) is where the serious adventuring loot is. The Kickstarter versions of those sets all include bonus coins. We also unveiled the Noble House of Absalom coin set (60,000 gp 28 pp) for epic level treasure and rare platinum coins. It has one bonus coin so far and with luck we'll add some more in our final hours, including the campaign exclusive Blond Badger.

We revealed the gorgeous Pathfinder Metal Compass which is marvelous on Pathfinder Flip Mats and Pathfinder Flip Tiles, and the Kickstarter exclusive Absalom Hero Point Token, which we will never reprint. By request we added our regular Pathfinder Hero Point Tokens, and the option for additional Eye of Aroden Velvet Bags

If you just want a few coins we have lots of Coin Packs to choose from, plus the incredibly popular Collector Pack. That's a great way of getting just one of each coin to show your players and, as Hijinks proved with their rambunctious adventure The Absalom Job, you can spin up a whole bank heist with it!

Critters we love

Lee Smith is a huge friend of ours, as he designed our entire Classic Fantasy coin range, plus our trade bars and our King's Ransom set. This year he has started Dirty Rascal Studios as a family affair with Kat, Kenzie & Kaitlin, and they are Kickstarting their first boardgame Survival of the Fattest. It's a game of woodland critters scrambling to get enough food, and as you can see from the art of Huni & Bunz above, they are all adorably fierce. It's wonderful game with deep strategy, sneaky tricks, and plenty of snacks. Check it out now before it goes into hibernation in 3 days.

Ol' Grizz

Across Absalom Harbour to The Puddles

One day to go! If we reach 250% funded, we will make it over the water to The Puddles, where we will unlock a bonus 5-Platinum coin for each Noble House of Absalom coin set.

Please check your pledge levels and make sure that it's right for you right now. Thanks for your support, it's been an absolute joy to get your comments and feedback. We can't wait to see these on your tables.

Best,

Mark, with Andre, Jackson & Maddison

48 hours to go! More Add Ons: bags and Hero Point tokens
over 1 year ago – Mon, Nov 21, 2022 at 02:34:00 PM

Coin bags with Absalom book and loose coins

Citizens of Absalom!

As you walk towards the Precipe Quarter you can see the old mansions above the sea, above the place where the cliff cracked and collapsed. The area is known to be haunted. You are undeterred. Where there's ghosts, there's gold.

The campaign has 48 hours to go! Thanks to you 250 souls who have travelled this far with us.

Please share word wherever you talk Pathfinder, coins, or gaming. We'd love to be able to unlock those final stretch goals for you.

New Add Ons

After yesterday's new coin packs, we have a few extra things that backers have requested:

EYE OF ARODEN VELVET BAG (AU $6 ~ US $4): This is a velvet bag with a cord, printed with the Eye of Aroden. The bag measures 6" (15cm) x 7.5" (19cm) and is comfortable to reach into. This is the same bag used for the Coin Sets, and is offered in case you would like some extras. You can Add On as many bags as you like, and in the Pledge Manager you will select green, blue, burgundy or purple.

Velvet bags

PATHFINDER HERO POINT TOKENS (AU $24 ~ US $15): This is a set of 6 of our regular Pathfinder Hero Point Tokens, designed by Terry Lane. The front shows the Glyph of the Open Road, and the reverse shows the Pathfinder "P" logo. Each token is one-inch diameter, and stacks flat.

Note: this set does not include the limited edition Absalom token, which is a separate Add On.

Band of Badgers Q+A

I had a great time chatting about the Coins of Absalom and many other Campaign Coins projects with Dave & Steve from Band of Badgers on the weekend. It's now up on YouTube. They're lovely folks, and play Pathfinder, 5e and other games on the regular, so chuck 'em a subscribe.

Thanks everyone! Let's see if we can topple a few last stretch goals!

Best,

Mark, with Andre, Jackson & Maddison
